We’re delighted to have started the new year with a new advisory board and fresh vision for 2018.
Our new vision and mission is to inspire stronger, collaborative event professional relationships by connecting people through shared knowledge, centred on our values of active networking, knowledge sharing and honest open debate.
A new energised event programme of monthly regional exchanges, with a change of day and time to Thursday at 4.30pm to 6.30pm, aims to address topical issues in the industry within operations, diversity, continued professional development, marketing, technology and the latest trends; mice influencers, GDPR, gender pay gap, sexual harassment and future of event sponsorship are amongst the topics that we will be debating over the next 3 months.
A new advisory board made up of regional Chairs and Vice Chairs has been confirmed with appointments including Cath Couzens of Perception Sales and Marketing as North Chapter Chair, Nel Flint of Capita Travel and Events as North Chapter Vice Chair, and Robert Kenward of You search and select as London Chapter Vice Chair. Adam Parry of Event Industry News also joins North Chapter as Vice Chair and Donna Cunningham of The ICC joins Chair Amanda Thurlow as Midlands Chapter Vice Chair.
Cath Couzens told us “I’m excited to be joining Helen and the EWL team and family as new Chair for the North West and Yorkshire.
The Northern Powerhouse has been in need of a networking and professional development group that speaks exclusively to event professionals and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to build and enhance the work started in 2016 to establish this fantastic network of event professionals.
I’m also very excited to be working with Adam and Nel to join our skills and experience to further enhance the membership support and benefits on offer.”
Robert Kenward added “I’m delighted and honoured to become the VC for London and the South East. EWL is known as promoting a thought leading, knowledge sharing and networking space for #eventprofs driven by Helen’s insatiable appetite to improve the credibility and information sharing of our industry.
I was a senior event professional for over 6 years following 10 years in recruitment, and now run an independent recruitment consultancy specialising in the events, digital/social marketing and creative communications sector so hopefully my background and knowledge will be a useful tool for our members and wider audience.
I look forward to working with, and for, the members and building on the great work by the existing team to develop our offering around our love for all things events.”
Future plans include growth and expansion of the membership with the addition of enhanced benefits including a VIP event buyer programme, concierge booking service, forum and talent development programme, as well as the launch of The Annual Exchange, taking place on Thursday 19th July in Birmingham it will be the first 100% user generated un-conference held for event professionals.
