“You only get out what you put in. Don’t expect more until you do more.”
We’re big fans of this and it is reflective of the EWL ethos and vision. The more you engage, contribute, and get involved the more you will get from your membership. The more events you attend the stronger your relationships will become as people get to know you better.
Remember that the way we are doing business, communicating and networking is changing. Don’t expect to do business exchanges simply because of what it says on your business card, our members want to get to know you as an individual and as an event professional.
Here are some hints and tips:
– Be kind and courteous. We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
– No promotions or spam. Pay it forward and give more to your fellow members and peers than you take. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant posts and links aren’t allowed.
– Respect everyone’s privacy. Being part of EWL requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make networks great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in our network should stay in our network
– Be pro-active, be engaging, be seen. Come along to the events, take part in the discussions, post and share in our Facebook group, and respond to the messages and questions you are asked by your fellow members. You are the sole person who is responsible and in control of the value and experience you take away from your EWL membership.
